Manicures & Pedicures
Manicures and pedicures often fall into the category of ‘pampering’. They are not only very enjoyable but also leave your nails looking fantastic. However, several other benefits could persuade you to make this occasional luxury experience a regular part of your beauty routine.
1. Nail Health
Your nails play three vital roles. They support the tips of your fingers or toes, and they protect the soft tissues, nerves and blood vessels. In addition, our fingernails help our dexterity, especially when picking up small items. It’s therefore essential to look after them.
A manicure or pedicure provides a deep clean for your nails - an important part of positive nail health, as both our hands and feet go through a lot daily. Regular manicures and pedicures ensure the removal of dead skin cells and encourage new skin cell growth. This cycle helps maintain strong, healthy nails.
Regular manicures and pedicures also help reduce your chance of fungal nail infections because nails in good condition are less susceptible. If you're keen to protect your nail health on an ongoing basis, manicures and pedicures have an important role to play.
2. Boosts Circulation
The process of having a manicure or pedicure usually involves a massage of your hands or feet respectively. Massage is a fast and effective way to boost circulation. Our circulation can be especially slow and sluggish during the winter months or if we sit at a desk all day or when we feel under the weather. Poor circulation can result in cold or numbness in hands or feet and swelling or joint pain. The massage increases blood flow and the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the cells. This, in turn, warms your hands or feet, improving joint mobility and reducing swelling and pain.
3. Soft, supple skin
Our hands and feet are exposed to some pretty harsh environments and experiences each day. We walk long distances or stand for hours on end; we put our feet into different shoes and subject them to variations in humidity. Our hands experience extremes in temperature, detergents and other chemicals and abrasive surfaces. It's easy to forget that these areas of our body deserve extra care and attention.
Over time, the skin on our hands and feet can lose condition, become dry and start to peel, crack and split. This damage to the skin’s surface is not only painful but leaves us open to infection.
Regular manicures and pedicures ensure that the skin on our hands and feet is well cared for and remains soft and supple.
Manicures and pedicures are incredibly relaxing and a great way to set aside time that is just for you. Whether you need time to think or fancy a change of scene, take the opportunity for a pampering break, sit back and relax. The effect of a few minutes of relaxation plus leaving with healthy, beautiful nails will boost your mood long after your appointment.
At Beauty Essence, we offer a range of manicure and pedicure treatments. If you're looking for a long-lasting finish for a holiday or special occasion, why not have a gel manicure or pedicure. Read our Gel pedicure [link to blog] blog article to find out more.
We recommend regular, professional manicures and pedicures for maintenance and further treatments at least every 2-4 weeks.
If you have old gel polish on your nails that will need removing, let us know to add a little extra time to your treatment session.
The basics of a manicure and pedicure may include nail trimming and shaping, cuticle maintenance, hand and foot moisturising and massage, and nail polishing. However, we are happy to adjust treatments to your individual needs.
We also offer foot treatments for hard skin and a selection of polishes for that perfect finish.
