Ladies Waxing

Professional waxing is quick and eliminates the risk of injury from shaving – not to mention unsightly razor bumps. Waxing will also delay hair regrowth by up to 3 weeks, reducing irritation and the need for daily maintenance.

We specialise in all over body waxing for men and women, from eyebrows to legs and everything in between. Our therapists are true professionals and will put you at ease. There is no need to worry. We have seen it ALL – all shapes and sizes, limited hair growth to a lot of hair, pregnant and post-birth bodies - and we are not here to judge. Read our Ladies Waxing blog to find out more.

We use two different types of wax - Hot wax and warm (cool) wax
Hot wax and warm wax both remove the hair from the root, but there are differences in how they are applied, the types of hair they are best for and the results they give.

Warm wax is heated and spread over the skin, and then a paper strip is pressed over it, adhering to both the wax and hairs. We pull off the paper and wax together, removing the hairs from the root. Because warm wax is applied and removed straight away, we can use it quickly and efficiently over large areas such as the legs, arms, etc.

Hot wax is warm and is a much thicker wax. It is applied to the skin with a spatula and allowed to cool and set. We then lift the edge of the wax slightly to remove it without the use of a paper strip.
Because hot wax sets around each hair, it grips better, making coarse and short hair removal easier. This is particularly beneficial for facial waxing, as it means that you can have hair removed more often and feel less self-conscious between treatments.

Things to consider - Before, During and After Treatment

The hair should be at least 1cm to 2.5cm for best results. If you have coarse hair, it should be closer to 2.5cm for the first few waxes. After a few waxing treatments we can wax the hair at a shorter length because it will be finer.

  • Refrain from taking a shower or bath immediately before the treatment. Soaking the hair will soften it, allowing it to break more easily and making waxing less effective.

Ensure the hair is the appropriate length for waxing (at least 1cm to 2.5cm for best results.

  • Make sure that the area(s) to be waxed are clean.

  • Some medications and products make the skin more sensitive and increase the likelihood of irritation or other complications. Ask your therapist or your doctor (prescription meds) if you are unsure whether you should be waxed while on or using a medication.

On arriving at our salon, one of our professional therapists will welcome you and talk you through the waxing procedure, answering any questions you may have. You will then be left to get yourself organised and comfortable. The therapist will return and carry out the waxing treatment quickly and professionally.

We apply a soothing oil or talc to the area to be waxed, which creates a barrier, so the wax doesn’t stick to your skin. The wax is then applied and removed when ready and your skin is left feeling clean and silky smooth.

Things to avoid 24-48 hours after waxing:

  • use of exfoliating products

  • direct sun exposure and tanning beds

  • creams with fragrance or ingredients that may irritate

  • deodorant: it results in irritation and clogging of open follicles

  • wearing tight clothing: results in irritation and inflammation

  • excessive heat, such as that from hot tubs and saunas. Warm showers are okay.

  • exercise, if it may cause chaffing or sweating

  • touching the freshly waxed area: this encourages irritation

After 48 hours, it is important to exfoliate regularly to keep the skin soft and prevent ingrown hairs.
