Permanent Electrolysis Hair Removal in Central London

Looking for permanent hair removal in London? At Beauty Essence, we offer professional electrolysis hair removal using advanced Apilus Platinum Pure technology for precise, effective treatment with a high level of comfort. Whether you want to remove unwanted facial hair, body hair, ingrown hairs, or are looking for a long-term solution after years of shaving, waxing, or threading, electrolysis is the gold standard for permanent results.

Conveniently located in Central London, our experienced therapists provide tailored electrolysis treatment plans adapted to your hair type, skin sensitivity, treatment area, and long-term goals.

What Is Electrolysis?

Electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal that works by inserting a very fine probe into the hair follicle and applying a small electrical current to destroy the germinative cells responsible for hair growth. Unlike temporary hair removal methods, electrolysis targets the follicle itself to stop future regrowth.

At Beauty Essence, we use Apilus Platinum Pure, a computer-assisted electrolysis system designed to deliver faster, more comfortable treatment with minimal skin reaction. The system also allows treatment settings to be adjusted to your sensitivity level for a more personalised experience.

Why Choose Electrolysis for Permanent Hair Removal?

If you are tired of constant shaving, painful waxing, stubborn stubble, or recurring ingrown hairs, electrolysis offers a true long-term solution.

Key benefits of electrolysis:
  • Permanent hair removal

  • Suitable for all hair colours and hair types

  • Can be used on most areas of the face and body

  • Effective for both small precise areas and larger treatment plans

  • Helps reduce the cycle of ingrown hairs and frequent regrowth

  • Ideal for clients who want a more precise alternative to temporary hair removal methods

Advanced Apilus Electrolysis in London

Beauty Essence uses Apilus technology, designed to make electrolysis more efficient and comfortable.

Because the machine is computer-assisted, your therapist can fine-tune the settings to your treatment area and tolerance level. That means a more bespoke treatment, whether you are booking a short facial hair session or starting a longer-term treatment plan for a larger area.

Electrolysis for Facial Hair and Body Hair

Electrolysis is an excellent option for clients who want to permanently remove unwanted hair from areas such as:

  • Chin

  • Upper lip

  • Jawline

  • Neck

  • Underarms

  • Bikini line

  • Abdomen

  • Legs

  • Chest

  • Back

Because the treatment is precise, it is particularly popular for facial electrolysis in London, where accuracy and skin care are especially important. Larger areas can also be treated through a structured plan over time.

Electrolysis for Women

For women seeking a permanent solution to unwanted hair, electrolysis can help create smoother underarms, a cleaner bikini line, and long-term removal of unwanted facial or body hair. Beauty Essence offers efficient and comfortable treatment options for areas ranging from small facial zones to larger body areas.

Electrolysis for Men

Men’s hair is often thicker, stronger, and more deeply rooted, which can make shaving and waxing frustrating over time. Electrolysis may be especially helpful for men dealing with coarse regrowth, irritation, visible stubble, or ingrown hairs. Treatment plans can be tailored for beard shaping, facial hair removal, or body hair reduction depending on your goals and timescale.

How Electrolysis Works with the Hair Growth Cycle

Hair grows in three stages: Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen. Electrolysis is most effective during the Anagen phase, when the hair is actively growing and attached to the dermal papilla. Because not all hairs are in the same growth stage at the same time, regular appointments are important for achieving the best long-term result.

This is why electrolysis is a process rather than a one-off appointment. Consistent treatment gives us the best chance to target hairs at the right stage for permanent removal.

Your Personalised Treatment Plan

No two clients are the same. Your electrolysis treatment plan will depend on:

  • The area being treated

  • Hair thickness and density

  • The amount of hair growth

  • Your skin sensitivity

  • Your end goal

  • How regularly you book appointments

Sessions can range from 5 minutes to around 60 minutes, with appointments scheduled weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or less often as progress is made. Each hair usually needs more than one treatment, and visible improvement can appear relatively quickly, although full permanent clearance can take longer because of the natural hair growth cycle.

What to Expect at Your Electrolysis Appointment

Your appointment begins with an initial consultation so we can assess the treatment area, discuss your hair growth, and tailor the treatment to your needs. The skin is cleansed, the Apilus settings are adjusted, and a fine probe is inserted into the follicle before a rapid current is applied. The treated hair is then removed without resistance.

Disposable probes and strict hygiene procedures are used throughout treatment, and a soothing antibacterial moisturising balm is applied afterwards.

Many clients find the treatment very manageable, and most do not require pain relief, although some may choose to take paracetamol or ibuprofen before a first appointment if they feel anxious.

Before Your Electrolysis Treatment

To get the best results from your appointment:

  • Allow 2–4mm of hair growth where possible

  • Do not wax or tweeze for around a month before treatment

  • You may shave or trim a few days beforehand

  • Avoid bleaching the hair for 48 hours before treatment

Aftercare Advice

After treatment, your skin needs a little time to recover. We recommend:

  • Avoid makeup on the treated area for at least 48 hours where possible

  • Use clean hands and clean brushes if makeup cannot be avoided

  • Apply a soothing hydrating gel

  • Avoid rich creams for the first 48 hours

  • Limit sun exposure and wear a good sunscreen

Proper aftercare supports healing and helps keep the skin calm after electrolysis.

Things to consider – Before, During and After Treatment

Before:

  • Ideally, electrolysis requires 2-4mm of hair growth

  • Don't wax or tweeze the hair for a month or so before treatment. This allows the hair time to grow to a visible length.

  • You can shave or trim the hair with scissors up to 3 or 4 days before your treatment. If electrolysis is for facial hair, you may wish to leave the final shave/cut until 48 hours before treatment.

  • Avoid bleaching your hair for 48 hours before treatment to avoid the risk of increased sensitivity.

During:

Electrolysis is completely safe.

If you usually wear makeup and would like to do so on the day of treatment, this is perfectly fine. Our beauty therapist will gently remove any makeup over the treatment area before electrolysis can commence.

After an initial consultation, the therapist cleans your skin and adjusts the settings on the Apilus to suit the location and type of hair.  Your therapist slips a minute probe into the hair follicle during the hair removal process, which you will not even feel.  Then, an ultra-rapid current is applied. The therapist removes the hair with a pair of tweezers, encountering no resistance.

We always use gloves and disposable probes. We ensure the highest level of hygiene throughout to prevent infection. After treatment, we apply a soothing, antibacterial, moisturising balm to your skin to encourage healing.

Apilus Platinum Pure is an effective, efficient and comfortable permanent solution for unwanted hair. Thus, most clients do not require any pain relief during the treatment. However, if this is your first treatment and you are at all anxious, then you may prefer to take some paracetamol or ibuprofen an hour before your appointment.

After:

  • We recommend that you do not apply makeup to the treated area for at least 48 hours, but we realise this is not always possible. To minimise the risk of infection, ensure that you wash your hands and that your makeup brushes are clean before applying any makeup.

  • If you want to wear makeup after electrolysis, ensure that you remove it at the end of the day with an unperfumed cleanser that is suitable for sensitive skin (recommendations below) and reapply a moisturising gel.

  • Immediately after treatment and within the first 24 hours, you must leave your skin to recover. However, we recommend that you apply a soothing, hydrating gel (we have recommendations below).

  • Avoid rich creams/moisturisers within the first 48 hours after electrolysis.

  • Avoid sun exposure where possible and ensure you wear a good sunscreen.
